Ex-LSU star Angel Reese excels despite five game losing streak

Angel Reese strung together two double-doubles over her last two games with the Atlanta Dream. But despite her strong performances, the former LSU women’s basketball star couldn’t put an end to her team’s losing streak.

The Dream’s losing streak reached five games after they dropped two more games, one on Thursday to the Washington Mystics and one on Saturday to the Golden State Valkyries. Reese, though, played well.

Between both games, Reese combined for 30 points and 26 rebounds. She recorded double-doubles against both teams, bringing her total to 14 for the season, including four in the last five games.

Against the Valkyries on Saturday, Reese shot 46.2% from the field. She posted 17 points and 13 rebounds along with three assists and three steals. In the close 88-83 loss, Reese fouled out and couldn’t finish the game down the stretch.

Reese averages 14.8 points and a WNBA-best 11.7 rebounds per game. After winning a national championship and earning All-American honors, Reese got selected by the Chicago Sky with the No. 7 overall pick in 2024. The Sky traded her to the Dream after two seasons.
