Former LSU pitcher Paul Skenes named to third career All-Star game

For the third time in his young career, former LSU baseball star Paul Skenes was selected to the MLB All-Star Game. The right-handed pitcher will represent the Pittsburgh Pirates and the National League on July 14 in Philadelphia, PA, at Citizens Bank Park.
Skenes ranked in the top five among National League pitchers in numerous statistical categories to start the 2026 season, as he did in his first two years. However, he slid down the rankings after a few tough outings in June.
Despite his struggles, Skenes remains one of the most fearsome pitchers in the game. He owns a 1.01 and 119 strikeouts, both of which rank No. 4 in the National League, and a 3.62 ERA through 97 innings pitched this season.

Skenes started for the National League in the All-Star Game in his first two full seasons of professional baseball. The Pirates selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft.
