NiJaree Canady’s holdout with the AUSL has officially reached its conclusion.
The Texas Tech softball star signed her contract with the Texas Volts, the team announced Friday. The Volts drafted Canady second overall earlier this year. The team continues its season with a two-game series at the Carolina Blaze this weekend.
Canady’s Texas Tech teammate, Jackie Lis, is also on the Volts and been the team’s starting first baseman through the first week.
Canady’s agent, Lindsay Colas at The Team, told Front Office Sports on Thursday that Canady hadn’t signed her contract yet as she was holding out for “a fair and equitable contract.”
