Oregon Ducks take another jump after 5-star Xavier Sabb commitment

One day before Independence Day, the Oregon Ducks set off some early fireworks by adding five-star wide receiver Xavier Sabb to their 2027 recruiting class. July is notoriously a big month for Oregon recruiting, having hauled in several top targets and five-star players in the past, but the first few days of this month have been extraordinary.
Sabb will join an Oregon class at wide receiver that already includes five-star Dakota Guerrant and three-star Malachi Garlington, giving the Ducks a strong stable of weapons for the future, potentially becoming targets for five-star quarterback commit Will Mencl.

The Ducks also added four-star Tae Walden Jr., who could play receiver or corner in Eugene, and five-star corner Hayden Stepp to start the month, moving Oregon’s recruiting class inside the top five of the national rankings. With Sabb’s commitment now added to the mix, the Ducks have bumped up one spot to No. 2 in the national rankings.
Sabb is the No. 5 wide receiver in the class and No. 32 player overall, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. The reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in New Jersey made 59 catches for 896 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.
Oregon now has 24 commits in the class, and Dan Lanning isn’t sticking to the West Coast. The Ducks have commitments from players in 17 different states. Oregon only trails Texas A&M in the national recruiting rankings, but the Ducks aren’t done yet.
The Ducks could make a push for the top spot before the month is over, with five-star offensive lineman Ismael Camara and four-star linebacker Brayton Feister both nearing a decision. Feister will commit on July 13, and the Ducks are the favorites for the Ohio native.
