Kentucky gets a commitment from a top 15 player in the 2029 class

It’s still a few years away from 2029, but in the world of recruiting, coaches are always looking ahead, even three years ahead. Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball coach Kenny Brooks has been recruiting for the future and it has paid off. On Thursday, Jayden McClain committed to the Wildcats.
McClain is a member of the 2029 recruiting class, and ranks as the No. 12 overall player by ESPN. She is a 6’6″ center with tons of upside, and is an in-state recruit who plays for Ryle High School in Kentucky.

Other recruiting services don’t have the 2029 class ranked yet, but she will certainly be a top 20 player once they do. With incredible length and natural athleticism (her parents both played high-level college basketball), she could develop into a special player at the next level.
Last season, as a high school freshman, she averaged around 13 points and 9 rebounds, while blocking an incredible 4.7 blocks per game. It’s an exciting commitment, and Big Blue Nation will be glad to have her aboard.
