‘Not everyone comes back’ – Gavi speaks out after ‘difficult’ few years at Barcelona
Gavi was back in action for Barcelona on Wednesday night against Racing in La Liga, making just his third appearance of the season for Hansi Flick’s side.
The midfielder missed time after picking up a knock against Elche but is also having to be patient due to the competition for places at Barca.
Speaking after the 7-2 win, Gavi acknowledged he’s had a tough few years and admits not all players make it back to the very top after sustaining serious knee injuries.
“These past few years have been difficult for me, everyone knows that, because I’ve had some very serious injuries,” he said.
“Not everyone comes back to playing at this level like I have. I’m telling you this because it’s very difficult when you have knee injuries. With the manager, even though I’ve had some serious injuries these past few years, I’ve played important matches with him, coming on as a substitute.”
Gavi also spoke about his team’s form, urging the players to keep up the good work after making a stunning start to the new campaign.
“The truth is, we’re doing very well. We’re very satisfied with the work so far, but in the end, the season is very long and we have to keep this up,” he added.
“Maintaining this rhythm is what’s important. I think we’ve improved a lot this year at the start of matches. We score goals very quickly, and if we get two or three chances, they go in. We have to keep this up because, in the end, the season is long and we have to score as many goals as possible.”
