Bill Belichick is clearing up claims about Jordon Hudson and her alleged role at UNC.
“The way the story was picked up was a long way from that,” Belichick said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal on September 16. “Like, ‘She’s trying to be the general manager of the team,’ and it’s so ridiculous.”
The UNC-Chapel Hill coach and cheerleader began dating in 2023. After the couple went viral for their CBS News Sunday Morning interview last year, where Hudson interjected when journalist Tony Dokoupil asked how they met, fans began asking how she worked for him. As Hudson began appearing at UNC football games, the questions began pouring in again about whether she had an employment connection to the university.

In the interview with The Wall Street Journal, he clarified that she helps with his schedule and “not North Carolina stuff.”
“When I took the job here, it was December, and at that time I was doing five TV shows, the radio show, I had a book coming out,” Belichick said. “I had a lot of other things going on when I took the job.”
He continued, “So, I sent an email when I got here and I said, Can you please forward any requests to Jordon about my personal appearances so that I can work and coordinate them outside the university? Didn’t have anything to do with the university. Well, that was leaked as released as ‘Jordon’s involved in every single thing that I do and she’s copied on every email.’ That’s just a flat-out lie.”
Belichick’s clarification of Hudson’s role follows the cheerleader requesting public records of communication between reporters and employees of UNC that was related to herself and the UNC coach.
Hudson was seen at her first UNC football of the season on Saturday, Sept. 13, when they faced the East Tennessee State. UNC dominated over ETSU winning 35-3 to mark their second win of the season. UNC will face the Clemson Tigers next on Sept. 19 on 12 p.m. ET.
