Real Madrid coach José Mourinho has told the club to stop negotiating Gonzalo García’s departure from the Spanish capital as he’d like to work with the young attacker for a few weeks before making the final decision about his future, according to a report published today on MARCA.
Madrid were ready to part ways with Gonzalo, who emerged as a very intriguing prospect in the FIFA Club World Cup a year ago. However, the Spanish striker couldn’t get the relevant minutes he coveted and the club ultimately considered that it would be a smart move to sell him while keeping a buy-back option.
Things have changed, as Gonzalo’s profile as a striker could be useful for Mourinho, who has always valued the presence of a target man on his rosters.
