Gleyber Torres leaves Detroit Tigers game with injury after swinging

HOUSTON – Gleyber Torres is injured again.

The Detroit Tigers‘ second baseman exited in the second inning Monday, June 15, against the Houston Astros at Daikin Park after swinging at (and missing) a first-pitch 92.4 mph fastball from right-hander Kai-Wei Teng.

Torres left the game with manager A.J. Hinch and assistant athletic trainer Kelly Rhoades.

The specifics of the injury are unknown.

Detroit Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres (25) is congratulated by designated hitter Jahmai Jones (18) for his score against the Cleveland Guardians during the first inning at Progressive Field in Cleveland on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

The 29-year-old has already been injured in 2026. He landed on the injured list May 4 with a left oblique strain – and didn’t return until June 2.

In Monday’s game, the Tigers replaced an injured Torres with pinch-hitter Hao-Yu Lee, who also took over at second base.
