The last time the Denver Broncos saw Stefon Diggs, he was leaving a snow-covered Empower Field as a member of the New England Patriots, heading to the Super Bowl after the Patriots defeated the Broncos.
But now, less than six months later, Diggs is looking for a new NFL home. The Patriots released Diggs after just one season, at least partially due to some off-field issues. With his legal matters now behind him, Diggs can focus on his next team.
It was reported that Diggs nearly signed with the Broncos instead of the Patriots last offseason, and he could still have some interest in the Mile High City. Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports recently reviewed some of the most likely potential landing spots for the services of Diggs and the Broncos are on his list.
“Here’s an interesting landing spot. Diggs said himself he was close to joining the Denver Broncos last offseason. There, he could reunite with his former teammate in Davis Webb– who just got promoted to offensive coordinator and play-caller for Sean Payton. The Broncos traded for Jaylen Waddle, but Bo Nix’s weaponry could be better. Adding a reliable target like Diggs could be something that helps Denver get over the hump and back to the Super Bowl”, wrote Dajani.
Does Stefon Diggs make sense for the Broncos in 2026?
Diggs could bring an experienced option to a deep wide receiving corps for the Broncos, but the team is loaded at wide receiver right now and will already have a difficult time sifting through its options after signing UFL standout Hakeem Butler.
The Broncos could choose to overload the group to give Bo Nix as much support as possible, but signing a player like Diggs, fresh off several off-field headlines that haven’t painted him in the best light, could seriously stunt the growth of the young wide receivers on the roster and could force the Broncos to trade Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims Jr. or Pat Bryant.

That could be a direction the team chooses to take anyway, but adding Diggs at this stage of the offseason could bring much more harm than good. The team made a big move by trading for Jaylen Waddle. Signing Diggs seems a little unnecessary with all of the potential behind Waddle and Courtland Sutton.
