Mariemont High School announced that five new members will join its Doc Kusel Athletic Hall of Fame in this year’s class, including three graduated athletes and a pair of coaches.
Gerry Storch, a 1946 graduate of Plainville High School before consolidation, was a standout in football, basketball, track and baseball for the Blue Devils. Storch was a second baseman in Plainville’s 1945 Class B state champion team, beating St. Henry 9-8 in the championship game.
Ian Mikesell, a 2019 Mariemont graduate, qualified for 16 swimming events in the state meet, finishing as runner-up in multiple events. He was also on Mariemont’s 2019 state runner-up lacrosse team.
Myah Giordulle, class of 2021, started for the varsity soccer team for four seasons and was twice named an All-American.
Terri Thomas was a coach and teacher for over three decades at Mariemont. Along with teaching health and physical education, Thomas was a coach for the basketball, softball, volleyball, cross country and track and field programs.
Steve Peterson, an Ohio Lacrosse Hall of Famer, led the boys program for 15 seasons, winning over 200 games and five state championships, including the 2017 championship, which was the first sponsored by the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
Those five will be honored at halftime of the football game against Clermont Northeastern on Aug. 28.
