Lady Vols basketball vs Virginia Tech in SEC/ACC Challenge, two former players

Lady Vols basketball will play against some familiar faces in the  SEC/ACC Challenge during the 2026-27 season.

Tennessee will travel to Virginia Tech on Dec. 3. Former Lady Vols Alyssa Latham and Lauren Hurst both transferred to the Hokies after Tennessee’s 2025-26 season ended in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Lady Vols haven’t played Virginia Tech since the 2022-23 season, when they faced them twice. Tennessee lost 59-56 in the Jimmy V Classic on Dec. 4, 2022 before losing 73-64 to the Hokies in the NCAA Sweet 16 on March 25, 2023.

Tennessee is 8-4 all time against Virginia Tech, and the Hokies have won four of the last five matchups going back to the 2015-16 season.

The Lady Vols are 2-1 all-time in the SEC/ACC Challenge, which began in 2023-24. Tennessee lost 74-69 to Notre Dame in 2023-24 before beating Florida State 79-77 in 2024-25 and winning 65-62 at Stanford last season.

Tennessee will also play at Coppin State on Nov. 5 this season, according to the Lady Vols’ online schedule. They also have matchups with Baylor on Dec. 18 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, at Belmont, against UConn on the road and home matchups against UCLA and MTSU.

The Lady Vols lost every single returning player to the transfer portal this offseason, and coach Kim Caldwell had to rebuild her roster from scratch. Tennessee added 13 transfers to complete its roster with two incoming freshmen.
