‘Commander in cheat’: President Trump exposed after ‘winning’ 43rd golf championship
United States President Donald Trump is known for spending plenty of time on the golf course, but he has also earned a reputation for bending the rules while playing. This weekend, critics believe he may have added another chapter to that history.
Over the weekend, Trump captured the club championship at his Bedminster golf club in both the Senior and Super Senior divisions after posting a score of 70. Given his long history of alleged golf-related cheating, however, many were quick to question the legitimacy of the achievement.
Trump ‘Wins’ Championship
A video shared on Sunday appeared to show Trump being recognized for what was described as his 43rd club championship victory at one of his golf properties.
“Please join me in congratulating the President of the United States for winning the Super Senior and Senior division with a great score of 70,” a commentator said at the event.
Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday, where he broke his silence on the latest championship while sharing a video of the final shot.
“The Winning Shot in the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to all of those who participated. I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
According to Meidas Touch Editor-in-Chief Ron Filipkowski, this is the 43rd championship that Trump has claimed at one of his clubs.
Trump’s History of Cheating
This is certainly not the first time that Trump has won a rather dubious championship.
A few years ago, Trump drew widespread attention when he shockingly declared himself the winner of the senior golf championship at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida, despite missing half of the tournament while attending a funeral more than 600 miles away.
That was certainly not an isolated event.
Golf writer Rick Reilly chronicled Trump’s long-running reputation for questionable conduct on the course in the New York Times bestselling book Commander in Cheat. Reilly has recounted several instances in which Trump declared himself the winner of tournaments despite not posting the top score.
According to Reilly, Trump has been credited with club championships after entering as the lone competitor, submitting a winning score while playing at a different course, and even placing his name on championship displays despite not earning the title.
‘Commander in Cheat’
Following Trump’s latest championship at his Bedminster club, Reilly took to social media to call out Trump for what he believes is blatant cheating.
“Just so non-golfers know… No 80-year-old on earth with a pancake swing and the chip yips has ever shot TEN SHOTS under his age. Club members let him win because nobody wants to get audited the rest of their lives,” Reilly wrote in a post on X, adding the hashtag #CommanderInCheat.
Reilly has gotten quite good at exposing Trump’s dishonest golf game over the years, so it’s not exactly surprising for him to weigh in on this instance.
