Reader's choice: Vote for Herald-Tribune Boys Coach of the Year

The Sarasota Herald-Tribune honored the best athletes, teams and coaches from Manatee and Sarasota counties at The High School Sports Awards on May 26, 2026.
The Herald-Tribune sports staff selected All-Area Teams of the top athletes and coaches for all high school sports for the 2025-2026 season.
We named Sarasota High basketball coach BJ Ivey as our Boys Coach of the Year among the 12 boys coaches of the year candidates. Ivey led the Sailors to district and regional titles before reaching the Class 7A state title game for the first time in the program’s 104-year history. Sarasota played three-time reigning state champion Miami Columbus down to the wire before falling by 3, 53-50. Sarasota won 9 straight before the championship game and finished with a 25-7 record.
Now we will let you have your say. Do you agree with Coach Ivey being our pick for Boys Coach of the Year, or do you prefer a different girls coach? Vote in our fans’ poll to make your pick for the Herald-Tribune Boys Coach of the Year.
Voting will remain open until Friday, July 3, 2026, at 10 a.m. We will announce the winners on Instagram at heraldtribunesports
