Army football's freshman class of 72 players has arrived

A total of 72 newcomers have been added to the Army football roster for the 2026 season.
Forty-eight played for the U.S. Military Academy Prep School football team in 2025. The other 24 come directly from high school.
“We’re excited to welcome the next generation of leaders to the Army football brotherhood,” head coach Jeff Monken said in a news release. “The Class of 2030 is an impressive group of high-achieving student-athletes and emerging leaders who have chosen to serve something bigger than themselves. They’ll make an immediate impact on our program this fall and in the years ahead.”
The newcomers hail from 22 different states – 4 from New York, 11 each from Georgia and California and 7 from Texas.
“I’m proud of our coaching and recruiting staff for bringing in such a high-character group from all corners of the country,” Monken added.
The newcomers arrived for the annual Reception Day on Monday, June 29, and were immediately thrust into summer cadet training.
The football preseason will get underway Aug. 5, a month ahead of the Sept. 5 season opener with visiting Bryant.
The current Army roster has 54 sophomores (out of 69 introduced in July 2025), 40 juniors (out of 73 introduced in July 2024) and 35 seniors (out of 84 introduced as plebes in July 2023), for a total of 201 players.
Army finished 7-6 in the 2025 season, including a win over Connecticut in the Fenway Bowl in Boston.
