Tristan Peters named to All-Star Game after hitting for cycle, replaces Nick Kurtz

Tristan Peters has had quite an impressive 24-hour stretch.
Fewer than 24 hours after hitting for the cycle, Major League Baseball announced the Chicago White Sox outfielder has been named to his first All-Star Game as a replacement player on the American League roster.
He will fill in for Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz on John Schneider’s roster. There has been no announcement yet on who will replace Kurtz in the lineup for the American League in Tuesday’s All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.

Peters finished off his cycle with a home run and triple in the seventh inning against the Athletics. He hit a 410-foot, two-run home run in his first at-bat of the inning, while his triple came in his second at-bat as the White Sox broke the game open with an eight-run inning.
It was the third cycle recorded this season, with Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper and Chicago Cubs outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong being the others. It was also the first cycle for a White Sox hitter since Jose Abreu recorded one on Sept. 9, 2017, against the San Francisco Giants.
Peters, who played for the Savannah Bananas when they were still a college summer baseball team and drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2021, is hitting .303 at the plate this season for the White Sox in 89 games played with 35 RBIs.
