This superstar free agent could be a perfect fit for the KC Chiefs

Stefon Diggs warrants attention from the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency this offseason.

Diggs has seen his name linked to the Chiefs throughout the spring after he was released from the New England Patriots on March 11. The Maryland native went for 1,000 yards receiving for the seventh time in his career last season with 1,013 and helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl.

Kansas City will lean on superstar tight end Travis Kelce in the passing game next season. The Chiefs will also look to Rashee Rice to be their No. 1 wide receiver in 2026. Rice has been limited to a total of 12 games played in the last two seasons due to injury and suspension and is projected by ESPN’s Mike Clay to go for 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in 2026.

Nevertheless, Diggs is still a legitimate No. 1 receiver in the league who has the talent to strengthen the Chiefs’ Super Bowl chances next season. The Patriots experienced a sharp turnaround last season with the 32-year-old in town. New England went from finishing dead last in the NFL in passing yards in 2024 with 3,343 to fourth in 2025 with 4,459, thanks in large part to Diggs’ contributions as a 1,000-yard receiver.

In Kansas City’s high-powered offense, Diggs has the potential to accumulate even more yardage in the receiving game while giving Mahomes a leading receiver with excellent hands, as seen with his brilliant 83.3 percent catch rate from last season. At the time of writing, the Chiefs have $3,450,158 in salary cap space.

With a series of moves to free up cap space, a move for the star free agent figures to be well worth it.
