The FSU Seminoles have a new running back coach in Kam Martin, who has a great track record of developing productive running backs. The first step in that process is landing them as a recruit, and he did that in June when he secured a commitment from Jayden Miles.
They beat out the Ohio State Buckeyes for the four-star prospect, but the battle might not be over. The Buckeyes recently missed on five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, their top target at the position, and are now expanding their board.
According to Sam Spiegelman of Rivals, that could include Miles, whom he is expecting Ohio State to “continue to kick the tires on.” He also believes there is “mutual interest” between the two parties.
Miles is ranked as the No. 395 overall player and No. 27 running back in the Rivals industry rating. The Baton Rouge product is also the No. 13 player from Louisiana.
If Ohio State does turn up the heat on Miles, the Seminoles will have to work to keep him in the fold. He officially visited both programs in June. While FSU has been recruiting him longer, the Buckeyes can point to their recent success on the field as opposed to FSU’s struggles.
The pitch worked last year, with Ohio State flipping four-star cornerback Jay Timmons from the Seminoles. The Seminoles having a strong start to the 2026 season could go a long way in helping keep Miles in the boat if Ohio State turns up the heat.
