Report: Sixers make organizational changes for Elton Brand, others

The Philadelphia 76ers are entering a new era of their front office with Mike Gansey officially taking over as the team’s new President of Basketball Operations. Gansey takes over for Daryl Morey after six seasons on the job in the same position.
With Gansey taking over the head job, the Sixers have also shaken up other positions in the front office. Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, Elton Brand will not return as the team’s GM. It appears he will remain with the team in some capacity either with the Sixers or within Harris & Blitzer Sports and Entertainment.
Elsewhere, Jameer Nelson will be promoted to Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations, which will make him No. 2 with the franchise. He was the team’s assistant GM and also has experience as GM of the team’s G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. Along with Nelson getting a promotion, the Sixers have agreed to an extension with assistant GM Prosper Karangwa.

This appears to be the new hierarchy within the organization as the Sixers move forward. Brand is well respected and will find a new role, but in the meantime, will help the front office with the draft prep as time moves on.
