Pau Hana swim hosts Jill Griesse Memorial to benefit cancer research

GRANVILLE- Nearly 1,000 swimmers jumped into the pool this weekend at the Trumbull Aquatic Center on the campus of Denison University and competed for a good cause.
Pau Hana swim, headed by coach Teresa Fightmaster, hosted its annual Jill Griesse Memorial. Those swimmers represented 26 teams from central Ohio and beyond.
Those competing included Licking County rising stars – Newark’s Eliana Roberts for host Pau Hana, Granville’s Lily Hyslop for Greater Columbus and Watkins Memorial’s Avery Bowman for Hydra Aquatics – and graduates ready to take the next step to the college level – Granville’s Nolan Schneider and Grace Largent and Watkins’ Olivia Crock all from Pau Hana.
The Jill Griesse Memorial is named in honor of Pau Hana’s founder in 1968. She died in 2014 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
The event has raised more than $94,000 for donation to cancer research in its existence. Members and supporters of the Pau Hana club also ride in Pelotonia every August.
