The NBA is abuzz with with trade proposals and free agency shenanigans. Every team wants a piece of the action.
The party isn’t just limited to the NBA’s top contenders. We’ve seen teams like Portland make an aggressive push trading for Ja Morant.
But what about teams at the bottom of the league’s barrel?

One trade proposal from an NBA writer has the Sacramento Kings pushing their chips all in for an elite forward.
Sacramento Kings trade Domantas Sabonis, DeMar DeRozan for $303 million superstar
On a recent episode of The Zach Lowe Show, the Ringer’s Michael Pina proposed this hypothetical trade for Jaylen Brown:
Celtics receive:
- Domantas Sabonis
- DeMar DeRozan
- 2027 first round pick
- 2029 first round pick
- 2031 first round pick (subject to swap with Spurs)
Kings receive:
- Jaylen Brown
Brown, who was Finals MVP with Boston in 2024, was offered in a trade for Giannis and now is rumored to potentially land in Portland.

But this would be a shocking move, even for a zesty NBA offseason. The Sacramento Kings would shed a pair of veteran salaries in Sabonis and DeRozan but would then take on Brown’s 5-year, $304 million supermax.
The Kings, who finished 22-60 last season, would also send three first round picks in Pina’s proposal.
They’d need to believe in a duo of Brown and Zach LaVine stacking wins to put those picks outside the lottery.
“I don’t think the Kings are doing that with the draft equity involved,” Lowe retorted to Pina’s proposition.
“Sabonis is a good name though for a team that really needs a proven NBA center,” he added, referencing the Celtics.
Boston would retain players for winning now and assets for their future. It would be a tough choice to punt on Brown but if the relationship is tenuous it could be the right move.
The Kings are unlikely to join the fray of fearless teams offering prime packages for Jaylen Brown.
Still, this trade proposal is something that could happen if the stars align.
Then again, anything could happen in this whirlwind offseason.
