The Atlanta Dream are already starting off the second half of the season strong, and the hope is that they can keep things rolling as they try to climb the standings. There have been some ups and downs, but the team has found more ways than not to walk away with wins when they needed to.
Jordin Canada knows what this team is capable of when they’re clicking from top to bottom, and she believes they’re one of the best in the league when everything is going right.
“I just want us to show who Atlanta Dream basketball really is,” Canada said before their game against the Seattle Storm. “When we’re playing at our best, I think we’re one of the top teams in this league. That’s how I feel. I think when we just play consistently for 40 minutes, I think that’s the biggest key for us is we can’t have any dips. Just trying to be consistent in the 40 minutes doing what coaches are asking us to do offensively and defensively and executing it, I think, we’ll be good.”

The Dream have had several times this season where they have the lead and then their opponent comes back late, or it’ll be the complete opposite. At the end of the day, the Dream believe they can beat any team in the league, and that’s what has helped them to a solid season.
“We want to get to the point where we expect to win, not that we can win,” Karl Smesko said. “We know we can beat everybody, but we want to get to when we’re playing the best team, we expect to win because we’re the most prepared, and we feel like we can accomplish anything when we put our minds to it. That’s gonna be our goal to get to over the next 17 games.”
Just like the goal for every team, the Dream want to win a championship with the group they have, and they know how special it would be to accomplish that.
“That would be an honor, especially since this will be the 1st championship Atlanta has won if we do win one, God willing,” Canada said. ”It’ll be very special, just the journey that I’ve been on, and I know that my teammates have been on just to do it together, do something special for the city, for the fans, for us. It’ll be very memorable. So God willing, hopefully we can get that done.”
