West Weeks’ tenure with the Colts

The Colts signed Weeks as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL draft.

What to know about West Weeks

The 2025 season was Weeks’ first as a starter. Playing 564 snaps, Weeks found success as a blizter, totaling 13 pressures with three sacks. He recorded 66 tackles, missing 11, and in coverage, held opponents to 9.1 yards per catch. Weeks is an experienced special teams player as well, with 454 career snaps, contributing to five of the six different phases.

“West, I know for a fact he’s gonna make an impact on special teams because he’s big and fast and he’s done that before and he’s looked good out here,” said assistant GM Ed Dodds. “I mean, he’s moving even better out here than he did on LSU tape.”

Looking ahead to 2026 for West Weeks

Weeks’ ability to contribute on special teams could be his ticket to a roster spot. Defensively, barring numerous injuries, the expectation likely isn’t for him to play a major role, but where he can contribute right away is on teams. That is where Weeks can differentiate himself.

That said, he’s got some players on the depth chart to potentially jump.

Along with CJ Allen, we saw Bryce Boettcher, Akeem Davis-Gaither, and Jaylon Carlies all take reps with the starting defense during offseason programs. Austin Ajiake has shown he can help on special teams, while fellow UDFA Tahj Chambers has ample special teams experience at the college level as well.

Potentially adding to the challenge is that last year, the Colts kept only four linebackers on the initial 53-man roster, although most teams do keep five.

I consider Allen, Davis-Gaither, and Boettcher roster locks, while Carlies probably makes the team. Potentially at best, that leaves one roster spot available at this position.
