Colorado football's top 2027 commitments from Andre Adams to Ben'Jarvius Shumaker

Deion Sanders’ hiring in Boulder, Colorado has resulted in the Buffaloes’ resurgence as program both on and off of the field.

Where Coach Prime and the Buffaloes have been at their best is acquiring talent that, in just years prior, likely would have never considered Colorado. That’s the case for Colorado’s 2027 class.

With just a few days remaining in June, Colorado now has 16 commitments in its 2027 class. 247Sports ranks the class as the 37th best in the country and No. 4 in the Big 12.

Of those 16 commitments, 15 have come since the beginning of April with six in May and seven so far in June. Five in particular are four-star prospects that had offers to several other top-tier programs from around the country.

Here’s a look a the blue-chip prospects Sanders the Buffaloes have landed commitments from so far in the 2027 cycle.

Andre Adams

Position: Quarterback

High School: Antioch (TN)

Breakdown:Adams announced his commitment to the Buffaloes on April 14 during the Pat McAfee Show. Last season, he was hands down one of the top quarterbacks in the Volunteer State, leading Antioch to a 10-2 record and was a TSSAA Class 6A Mr. Football finliast.

On the season, he completed 71% of his passes for 3,418 yards and 35 touchdowns with only one interception while also rushing for 855 yards and 13 more touchdowns.

Gabe Jenkins

Position: Safety

High School: Imani Christian Academy (Pittsburgh, PA) 

Breakdown: A former Penn State pledge, Jenkins decommitted from the Nittany Lions after James Franklin was fired last season. He ultimately chose Coach Prime and committed to Colorado on May 20.

A true dual-threat athlete in Pennsylvania, he led Imani Christian Academy to a 12-1 record last season. At quarterback, he threw for 1,765 yards and 28 touchdowns while rushing for 1,409 yards and 13 more touchdowns. Defensively, he added 24 tackles and three tackles for loss.

Li’Marcus Jones

Position: Offensive Tackle

High School: Brentwood Academy (Brentwood, TN) 

Breakdown: Originally from Mississippi, Jones transferred to Brentwood Academy for his senior season after playing at Callaway (Jackson, MS) his junior year and Hartfield Academy (Flowood, MS) the years prior.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pounder announced his commitment to Colorado on May 24 choosing the Buffaloes over Mississippi State and Purdue.

Jaiden Kelly-Murray

Position: Wide Receiver

High School: Oceanside Collegiate Academy (Mount Pleasant, SC)

Breakdown: Kelly-Murray enters his first and only season at Oceanside Collegiate Academy after previously playing at Summerville (SC) and Goose Creek (SC). In two seasons at Summerville, he proved to be one of the state’s top receivers catching 153 passes for 2,274 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Sanders extended an offer to Kelly-Murray in April and nearly a month later he committed to Colorado, choosing the Buffaloes over Illinois, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Ben’Jarvius Shumaker

Position: Defensive Lineman

High School: Choctaw County (Ackerman, MS) 

Breakdown: Colorado’s latest commitment, Shumaker also stole the headlines with his recent decision to flip away from Ole Miss to the Buffaloes. Shumaker posted on his Instagram story a day prior that he had shut down his recruitment before flipping to Colorado a day later.

The Buffaloes’ highest-rated 2027 commitment, Shumaker was a force up front last season at Choctaw County. He finished his junior campaign with 113 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries.
