Collector finds 1-of-1 Shohei Ohtani Dual Logoman card and instantly sells it for $11 million
One of the most long-awaited baseball cards, Shohei Ohtani’s Gold Logoman autograph card, surfaced and was snatched up immediately for massive money.
Shohei Ohtani has become a huge name in baseball, with many fans ready to call him the greatest player of all time. As a hitter and pitcher, he has shattered long-held beliefs about what players can do.
As such, whenever his 1-of-1 Dual Gold Logoman card emerged, it was always going to be extremely valuable to collectors.
And this has come to pass in Boca Raton, Florida, with the valuable item turning up at the Boca Cards Store and immediately making millions for the collector that found it.
Shohei Ohtani’s Dual Gold Logoman Card becomes third most expensive in history at $11 million
As soon as it was pulled out of a 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball hobby box, it was already on its way to high-end collector Matthew Allen, who had put a bounty of $6.5 million out on it.
The collector who found the card already knew about the bounty, and reached out to Allen directly to negotiate. That it eventually sold for $11 million is a testament to its value and rarity.
This makes it the third most valuable card of all time. The highest ever sale was $12.932 million for a 2007-08 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman autograph of Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant.
Matthew Allen explains why he had to have the card
For most people, $11 million is life-changing money but for devoted collectors like Allen, the price is more than worth it to have an item this rare.
Speaking to ESPN, the man that paid the eye-watering sum said, “The card just resonated deep with me, and I was like, you know what, I have to get this card.
“I needed to let everyone know I wanted this card because it was ripping so rapidly that the chances were that it was going to come out soon.”
Ohtani’s cards have been selling for incredible prices this year, but this sale now blows the previous $3.365 million out of the water. It’s wild to imagine how much these will sell for in another 50 years.
