Dodgers pitcher Ben Casparius was back on a mound in a game for the first time in a game in three and a half months, starting a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday night in Sacramento.
Casparius, out since early April with right shoulder inflammation, allowed a double and walked two in the seventh inning. He allowed one run and recorded two outs during the frame, one by strikeout.
Player of the day
Tulsa second baseman Sam Mongelli was hitless in four at-bats with two strikeouts, but who cares? He also made this ridiculous play, reacting quickly to a broken play and finished it off with a glove flip.
Triple-A Oklahoma City
The Comets were held scoreless in a blowout loss to the Sacramento River Cats (Giants).
Oklahoma City managed only one hit, a sixth-inning single by rehabbing Kiké Hernández, who played first base on Saturday.
Old friend Eddys Leonard, now playing first base in the Giants organization, homered for Sacramento.
Double-A Tulsa
The Drillers stole seven bases and held off a comeback attempt in the ninth inning to beat the the Arkansas Travelers (Mariners).
Kendall George stole two of those bases with two singles and also scored twice. Josue De Paula stole a base and tripled.
Christian Zazueta struck out seven in his four innings, with one run allowed.
High-A Great Lakes
Brady Smith had a rude welcome to the Midwest League, allowing seven runs in four innings in his High-A debut in the Loons’ loss to the Lansing Lugnuts (A’s).
Charles Davalan homered as part of a two-hit, two-run, two-RBI contest.
Class-A Ontario
After two scoreless innings of relief, Luis Gamez allowed five runs in the eighth inning in the Tower Buzzers’ loss to the San Jose Giants.
Center fielder Jaron Elkins had three hits, including a triple, in the loss.
