Baseball – Chester rallies, advances to Class B state finals

Section 9 Class B baseball champion Chester Academy wasn’t about to let a rough start and a rain delay get in the way of its pursuit of a state championship.
Suffolk County champion Center Moriches jumped on starter Nick Sharp for four hits and a pair of runs in the first inning of the state semifinal playoff at Binghamton University in Vestal. But that’s all the runs the Red Devils would muster as Chester rallied for a 5-2 victory.
The Hambletonians will play for the state title at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at the Bearcats’ field, against Section 6 (Western New York) champion Medina, a 9-0 semifinal victor over Section 3 winner Notre Dame.
