Access to Knicks' watch parties and to MSG for Game 3 won't be easy

If your plans for Monday, June 8 include joining fellow Knicks fans outside Madison Square Garden for an NBA Finals Game 3 watch party, you’re out of luck.

The New York Police Department said in a release that with President Trump scheduled to attend Game 3 in Manhattan with the Knicks’ up 2-0 in the best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs, there will not be a watch party outside Madison Square Garden, CBS News reported.

“This decision was made is coordination with the Secret Service,” an NYPD statement said, according to SNYtv’s Ian Begley. “There will be watch parties at other locations.”

Those other watch parties in NYC are scheduled to be outside Wollman Rink in Central Park and the Brooklyn Bowl, the Knicks said.

Interested fans had to register for Wollman Rink and Brooklyn Bowl. And both free events were at capacity as of 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7: “This event is at capacity. Guests will be welcomed at a first come, first served basis and walk-ins will be welcomed if space permits.”

If you’re lucky enough to have a Game 3 ticket, count on extended wait times to get in. The Knicks put out a release saying fans should expect “TSA-style screening procedures.”

They also recommended arriving “at least two hours before tip-off.”
