The Baltimore Ravens received a concerning initial diagnosis for rookie wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane following their 41-23 season-opening victory over the Indianapolis Colts. Lane is believed to have suffered a fractured wrist, NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo reported, citing sources. The rookie will undergo additional testing, including an MRI on Monday, to determine the full extent of the injury.
A recovery timetable will depend on those results.
Lane caught one pass for 11 yards on three targets before his NFL debut ended prematurely. He also appeared to catch his first career touchdown, but a holding penalty against center Jovaughn Gwyn erased the play.
Baltimore selected Lane with the No. 80 overall pick in April’s draft. The 6-foot-4 receiver earned an immediate offensive role after impressing coaches throughout training camp and the preseason with his size, catch radius, and ability to provide Lamar Jackson with a larger target near the sideline and in the red zone.

His injury contributed to a rapidly developing depth problem during the opener.
Zay Flowers was ruled out with a hamstring injury after catching five passes for a career-high 150 yards and one touchdown. Devontez Walker was inactive because of a groin injury, leaving Rashod Bateman, Chris Moore and LaJohntay Wester as Baltimore’s three available receivers.
Moore responded with a 53-yard reception in relief.
If Lane and Flowers miss additional time, Baltimore could lean more heavily on tight ends Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely and Matt Hibner. Running backs Derrick Henry and Adam Randall could also receive additional opportunities in the passing game. Monday’s testing will determine whether Lane’s absence becomes a short-term concern or a significant setback for Baltimore’s remodeled receiving corps.
