LAWRENCE (KSNT) — It wasn’t the most impressive showing for Isaiah Marshall on Friday night.
The redshirt-sophomore quarterback was 13-30 for 168 yards in the loss against Missouri in the Border Showdown. Marshall threw for two touchdowns but had two interceptions in the loss.
Amongst the inconsistent moments, Marshall threw a strange 360 ball into the air as he was falling out of bounds, which turned into a catch.
Marshall did take a hit early in the game that head coach Lance Leipold said could’ve affected his play. However, they both know that can’t be an excuse.
“He took a hit early in his arm that affected him. He was very excited about this game and maybe was too hyped up,” Leipold said. “I felt he wasn’t himself in some of his throws.”
“It starts with me getting out of the huddle faster. I need to make better throws and reads,” Marshall said. “We have to execute better. We left too many opportunities on the table.”
Marshall looks to rebound from the loss overseas for the Jayhawks’ next game. Kansas travels to London for the Union Jack Classic on Saturday, Sept. 19 for a matchup with Arizona State.
