Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda combine to create unwanted golfing history

Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda are the two dominant forces in golf.
Scheffler is the men’s world number one, and while he’s in the midst of a down year by his own lofty standards, he is still the man to beat week in, week out on the PGA Tour.
Meanwhile, Korda, following a mediocre season in 2025, is having the best season of her career to date. She’s won two major championships and won four times in total this season already.
But while they are both inarguably the best in their respective fields, they now share a piece of unwanted history after their performances this week.
Scottie Scheffler and Nelly Korda make history by both missing the cut
Scheffler and Korda have both had weeks to forget. Scheffler missed the cut at the Scottish Open to break his streak of 78 consecutive made cuts on the PGA Tour, a run that dates back to August of 2022.
Meanwhile, Korda had a disappointing week at the Amundi Evian Championship, also failing to make the weekend’s action. It’s Korda’s first missed cut since the 2024 Women’s PGA Championship.
This marks the first time that both the men’s and women’s world number ones have missed the cut in the same weekend since the women’s world golf rankings were introduced 20 years ago in 2006.
It’s jarring to see two of the most consistent performers in the sport have such uncharacteristically disastrous performances in the same week.
