World Cup Watch Thread: Quarter Finals | Norway vs England

We’re into the quarter final stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and with just six games to play (yes, we have already watched 98 games go by!), we’re close to finding out who the next world champion is.

Norway have been a surprise package but only for those who haven’t been paying attention for the last couple of years. Led by man-machine Erling Haaland, they are capable of shocking anyone in this tournament, but it’s not just the striker. Backstopped by a solid goalkeeper and defence, with the creative ability to get down the wings, the Norwegians are a dangerous quantity.

England are showing themselves to be a balanced squad with the ability to score against anyone while locking things down when they have to. Jordan Pickford will be particularly please by his second half showing against Mexico, and the Everton #1 will have to be at his best to keep out Haaland today.

This has all the hallmarks of a memorable World Cup clash, spiced up by the fact that a number of Norway players plying their trade in England.
