All eyes will be on Utah in this matchup, as it should be the debut for reigning No. 2 overall draft pick, Darryn Peterson of Kansas. Peterson had an up-and-down lone season with the Jayhawks, putting up fantastic numbers – 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 steals over 24 games – but had hard-to-explain issues regarding his availability and health.
Even so, his talent level is massive enough that he still warranted a second-overall pick. Peterson will have all eyes on him during his 3 p.m. ET Summer League debut on Saturday.
Peterson won’t be the only Utah player to receive attention on Saturday, however, as he’ll share the court with last year’s No. 5 overall pick, Ace Bailey. Bailey had a solid rookie season for the Jazz, one that saw him average 13.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per contest on 44.3 percent shooting. Many expect a second-year leap out of the massively talented Bailey, giving Utah multiple exciting building blocks. We’ll find out Saturday how probably that leap is based on how Bailey looks in Summer League, where he should have a leg up on the competition based on his level of experience.
