Former LSU baseball pitcher enters transfer portal again

A former LSU baseball pitcher is back in the transfer portal again. Cameron Johnson, after spending two years at Oklahoma, will look for a new home. Johnson began his career at LSU in 2024, only spending one year with the Tigers before transferring to Oklahoma.

With LSU in 2024, Johnson made 13 relief appearances. He posted a 12.00 ERA in nine innings.

With Oklahoma, Johnson started seven games in 2025, but only pitched 21 innings with a 5.57 ERA. He was in the Sooners’ starting rotation to start 2026. He missed some time, but 2026 was a career year for the lefty. In 15 starts, Johnson posted a 4.36 ERA and struck out 72 in 53.2 innings.

Johnson wasn’t perfect, but the stuff was there. 64Analytics now ranks Johnson as a top-five transfer available.

Johnson arrived at LSU as one of the top-ranked recruits in the country in 2024, but didn’t meet expectations in Baton Rouge. Johnson grew closer to that projected ceiling in Norman. We’ll see if he can make another step at his next stop.
