The Celtics must boost their frontcourt this offseason. Could they fill the need by poaching someone from the New York Knicks.
Bleacher Report NBA insider Jake Fischer reported this week that Boston is interested in center Mitchell Robinson, who’s a free agent. Fischer also said that the Celtics are considering a reunion with Robert Williams III, who also is a free agent.
“The Celtics have definitely sent out signals that they want to be big players in the big man market,” Fischer reported, as transcribed by Celtics blogger John-Griner Canady. “I’ve heard Boston linked to Mitchell Robinson and Robert Williams III”
The 7-foot Robinson is a true center who adds zero value as a 3-point shooter. In fact, he hasn’t attempted a 3-pointer once in his eight-year career.
Last season, Robinson averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 60 games.
