After a €20 million move from Leganes last summer, RB Leipzig attacker Yan Diomande took the Bundesliga by storm and was named the Rookie of the Season. He scored 12 goals and dished out eight assists for Leipzig while earning 10 international caps ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has become the hottest name in the transfer market. Leipzig has already rejected a €100 million opening bid from Liverpool but will reportedly accept an offer in the €130 million range for the 19-year old phenom.

Before he can switch club teams, Diomande is laser focused on a World Cup run with Côte d’Ivoire. After a narrow win over Ecuador in the opening match of the group stage, Côte d’Ivoire faces a stiff challenge against Germany.

“When you play in Germany, you quickly see that everything there is very structured,” Diomande told Bild (via @iMiaSanMia). “Discipline is very important, punctuality, intensity in training. I learned a lot as a result, both on and off the pitch. Germany is a very strong team; they never give up and fight until the end. Add to that their individual quality. That makes them very strong. Florian Wirtz, for example, is a very creative player who finds solutions in the final third, even in tight spaces. Players like that can change a game with a single action.”

Leipzig played Bayern Munich three times in the 2025/26 season, where half of Germany’s starters spend their time. While losing by an aggregate score of 13-1 hardly qualifies as a blueprint to victory, the learning experience cannot be fully discounted.
