What we're hearing about Grizzlies NBA draft, rumors, Ja Morant trade

The 2026 NBA Draft will be held on June 23-24, and the Memphis Grizzlies are expected to be one of the most active teams.
Memphis has three picks at No. 3, 16 and 32. The Grizzlies are the only team with three picks in the top 35 of the draft.
As the draft gets closer, follow along for the latest news, rumors, trade speculation and workouts.
Phoenix Suns not interested in Ja Morant
The Phoenix Suns were a team that surfaced as a potential landing spot for Grizzlies guard Ja Morant at the end of the season. Phoenix has a surplus of shooting guards and wings, which has led to players playing out of position at point guard.
After the idea of Phoenix being a potential possibility for Morant, multiple reports have surfaced in recent days to shut down the idea.
Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro shut down the idea after a Bleacher Report article highlighted the Suns as a potential landing spot.
“Ridiculous,” Gambadoro said on X. “Take the Suns off the list. Not happening.”
USA TODAY mock draft has Darryn Peterson to Grizzlies
In USA TODAY’s latest mock draft, Kansas guard Darryn Peterson falls out of the top two and is selected by the Grizzlies.
On June 15, news broke about Peterson choosing to only meet with the Washington Wizards, the team with the first overall pick, skipping out on potential meetings with any other lottery teams during the pre-draft process.
It’s a move that might impact how other lottery teams evaluate him. In this mock draft, Peterson is picked behind AJ Dybantsa of BYU and Cam Boozer of Duke.
