Following the Philadelphia 76ers’ blockbuster trade for Jaylen Brown, two roster needs became clear for the franchise: a game-changing starting power forward and the perfect second-unit wing scorer.

While the 76ers are still working on finding a high-caliber PF whom the organization could easily slot into their starting lineup, they succeeded in outbidding the Golden State Warriors for dynamic 6-foot-3 ex-Boston Celtics sharpshooter who’s destined to deliver the goods for Philadelphia off the bench.

The 76ers officially announced the deal on Monday.

“ Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Mike Gansey announced today that the team has signed Anfernee Simons,” the franchise stated.

“In 55 appearances with Boston and Chicago last season, Simons, 27, averaged 14.3 points on 38.5% shooting from beyond the arc (44.0% field goal shooting percentage), 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 24.9 minutes per game. He scored 20-or-more points on 12 occasions, including a season-high 39 points on 7-of-16 shooting from three (13-28 FG) on Jan. 15 against Miami (Heat).”

Simons, who, according to the Stein Line’s Jake Fischer, received interest from the Warriors before signing with the 76ers, certainly knows a thing or two about catching fire from deep and putting defenders on skates with his quick-twitch ball handling.

The IMG product has been a 15+ points-per-game scorer and a 36.0% or better three-point shooter for most of his career, epitomizing what it means to be a lethal scoring threat in the most competitive basketball league in existence.

If Simons continues to produce as an experienced combo guard who was born to find the bottom of the net by any means necessary, the 76ers will be in for a treat in 2026-27.
