One of the most popular NBA trends on Google on Friday night was Jon Elmore.

That’s despite the fact that Elmore didn’t get a second of court time in the first half of the Los Angeles Lakers‘ Summer League opener in Las Vegas.

Elmore had played in previous summer action for L.A., and he’d caught the eye of many fans because of his odd combination of balding head and compelling game.

It’s just not clear the Lakers are going to give him an actual chance in Vegas.

Where is Jon Elmore?

Elmore is on the Lakers’ Summer League roster.

He simply didn’t get into their first game in Vegas, suggesting he doesn’t have a particularly good chance of any sort of a roster spot.

Fans want to see him play because he’s about as fascinating as can be.

How old is Jon Elmore?

Elmore is 30 years old.

He’ll turn 31 on December 20.

Who is Jon Elmore?

Elmore is a 6-foot-3 guard who is suiting up in NBA Summer League for the Lakers.

He was a member of the 2019 NBA Draft class but wasn’t chosen this year, and he’s traveled quite the basketball journey.

He has played for teams known as:

  • Trieste
  • Orlandina
  • Ionikos Nikaias
  • Sopron
  • Siauliai
  • Sioux Falls Skyforce
  • Cleveland Charge
  • Stockton Kings
  • Manisa
  • Calgary Surge

Elmore won a 2025 G League championship.

During the 2025-26 season with the Stockton Kings in the G League, Elmore averaged 13.8 points and 6.1 assists per game.

Jon Elmore’s legendary college career

Elmore, a kid from West Virginia, didn’t immediately play college basketball at Marshall University.

He went to VMI, where his father Gay Elmore had played, but he left school to help care for his struggling grandfather.

Eventually, he joined an intramural team at Marshall, where he caught the eye and was recruited to the varsity team.

Elmore led Marshall to its first NCAA Tournament win ever, scoring 27 points in an upset of Wichita State.

He set Conference USA’s all-time record in both scoring and assists, and he was the first player in D-I history to score more than 2,500 points and dish out more than 750 assists.

Elmore spent recent summers playing in The Basketball Tournament, but this time around, he’s suiting up for the Lakers.
