LAS VEGAS — UCLA survived three match points to stun Hawaii to win the Lucky Aces Invitational, 19-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-17, 18-16 today at Orleans Arena.
Maggie Li put down back-to-back kills on two Hawaii match points to keep the Bruins alive. UCLA ended the match on a Hawaii hitting error.
Li finished with a match-high 20 kills and 11 digs to lead the Bruins (9-2).
Panna Ratkai had 19 kills and 10 digs and Miliana Sylvester added a season-high 16 kills and seven blocks.
UCLA outdug Hawaii 83-63 and had 15 blocks. Hawaii finished with 10 blocks.
Victoria Leyva had a match-high 23 digs.
UH saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end and finishes the nonconference portion of its schedule at 8-3.
Hawaii returns home and will begin its first season in the Mountain West Conference hosting New Mexico on Friday and Saturday at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
