We are continuing to count down the top 15 highlights from the 2025-26 year in Kentucky Wildcats sports. Though there were some tough endings to seasons, there were still plenty of big moments throughout the various Wildcats teams.
No. 12 comes to us from the softball team, and freshman pitcher Hailey Nutter. She came to Kentucky from Texas, where she was a dominant pitcher, a national champion, and a star. In her first appearances as a Wildcat, she showed everyone why.
In her first start of the season, against Loyola-Chicago, Nutter nearly threw a perfect game. One batter reached base on an error, but she faced the minimum of 21 batters with no hits given up and 14 strikeouts. It was complete domination.
Later in the same month, against Indiana State, Nutter did it again. She surrendered just one base runner while striking out 12 of the 15 batters she faced. It was another impossibly impressive performance from a player in just the first month of her college career. Hopefully, there will be plenty more to come in the coming seasons.
