WELLS, Maine — Sophomore Ella Mello scored the game-winning goal three minutes into overtime on a long through ball from sophomore Sommer Morrison as the York High School girls soccer team rallied from a two-goal second-half deficit to beat Class C Wells, 4-3, on Thursday, Sept. 10.
The victory was the first of the season for Class B York, which improved to 1-1.
Mello finished with two goals and two assists for the Wildcats, while Sofie Rosen added a goal and an assist.
York opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Rosen set up Mello for a 1-0 lead. Wells responded with two goals in a five-minute stretch to take a 2-1 advantage into halftime and then added another goal early in the second half to extend the lead to 3-1.
The Wildcats began their comeback when junior Mackenzie Hosford scored off a corner kick from Mello to cut the deficit to 3-2. Then, with just 1:20 remaining in regulation, Morrison was fouled in the penalty area and Rosen scored the equalizer.

HAMPTON – Emma Somerville scored two goals, and Olive Needham, Sophia Guimaraes and Joyia Penachio all had one for Winnacunnet (4-1) in its Division I win.
Evyn Christie recorded two assists for the Warriors, and Penachio and Somerville both had one.
Maeve Ouellette and Molly Houlihan both played well in the win, and goalkeeper Julianne Banks had seven saves.

DOVER – Khloe Healey scored the game’s only goal for Dover in its Division I win. Dover goalkeeper Norah O’Malley had nine saves for the shutout.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – Brooklyn Smith and Rachel McNutt both scored a goal for Marshwood (2-0-1) in its Class A A South win.

PORTSMOUTH — Ben Williams opened the scoring with an unassisted goal before Obida Shaban scored off an assist from Will Lefebvre. Lefebvre added the Clippers’ third goal on a corner kick from Cam Stacy.
Keeper Brock Anderson earned the shutout for Portsmouth, now 3-1-1 on the season.

SOUTH BERWICK, Maine – Kyler deWildt’s goal 8 minutes into the second half was the difference in this Class A South match.

PORTLAND, Maine — Waynflete scored seven of its goals in the second half of this Class C South contest.
Traip senior goalkeeper Maddy Evans had 17 saves, while Roslyn Varney and Ava Darling each added a defensive save.

Dover remains undefeated
EXETER — Sam MacGregor earned a share of medalist honors with an even-par 35 as Dover improved to 9-0 with this four-team Division I match at Derryfield Country Club.
Dover posted a team score of 191, beating Exeter (197), Salem (205) and Spaulding (206).
Exeter’s Chase Jumper and Nolan Engler also shot medalist rounds of 35.
Ty Buchanan shot a 37 for the Green Wave, while Brayden Patel and Collin Moe both shot a 39, and Des Fennessy shot a 41.
Oyster River’s Joglekar shoots medalist round
HOLLIS — Yash Joglekar earned medalist honors with an even-par 35, but Oyster River (9-3) was edged by Souhegan in a four-team Division II match at Overlook Golf Club.
Souhegan placed first with a team score of 210, followed by Oyster River (213), Hollis-Brookline (219) and ConVal (262).
Parker Ahn shot a 43 for the Bobcats, while Joey Alvarez, Rowen Alexander and Teddy Trojan all had a 45.
York sweeps Class B South match
CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine – Lachlan Morris shot a 3-over-par 38 as York swept a three-team Class B South match at Purpoodock Golf Club.
Bancroft Potter shot a 44 for the Wildcats, while Max Hunter and Ian Scarponi both had a 45, and Liam Connors had a 46.

HAMPTON – Marin Dodier’s 35 assists and 10 digs led Winnacunnet (3-0) to its Division I win.
Individual set scores were 25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25.
Winnacunnet’s Nora Simmons had16 kills and four digs, while Kendra Caulmare had 24 digs, three assists and four aces.

EXETER — Devi Israni had 22 digs and Olivia Battey had 13 for Exeter in its Division I loss.
Individual set scores were 25-21, 19-25, 25-17 and 25-18.
Sophie Provost added eight kills for the Blue Hawks, and Payton Strandberg had six.
“We played a strong game against a good Pinkerton team,” Exeter coach Michael McDonnell said. “I think we played some of our best ball of the season early on, especially in the first and second set. We need to learn to sustain that type of play for an entire match. Overall, I’m pleased with how we played and I know we will be better for having faced a strong opponent.”

FALMOUTH, Maine — Julia Sudol had four kills and Hannah Tuttle recorded 16 digs as Marshwood dropped this Class A contest.
Individual set scores were 25-20, 25-12, 25-15.
Freshman setter Taylor Airey had 11 assists and two aces, while junior Briley Matlock had three blocks.
