Tennessee baseball adds transfer pitcher Parker Detmers from Louisville

Tennessee baseball signed Louisville transfer pitcher Parker Detmers on June 24, according to multiple reports.

Detmers missed the 2026 season after having Tommy John surgery as a sophomore in 2025. He began that season as Louisville’s second weekend starter and went 1-1 with a 3.94 ERA in four starts, totaling 16 innings. He struck out 15 and walked four. In 34.2 total innings at Louisville, Detmers had a 5.71 ERA.

He has two years of eligibility remaining and is eligible for the MLB draft in July, but is not considered a high risk to go pro yet. His brother Reid Detmers was drafted out of Louisville in 2020 and is a pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels.

Detmers is from Chatham, Illinois, and attended Glenwood High School, the same school as UT sophomore pitcher Cam Appenzeller. Perfect Game ranked Detmers as the No. 113 prospect in the class of 2023.

Detmers is the sixth player this offseason transferring to Tennessee and the third pitcher coming off elbow surgery along with Northwestern State transfer Brody Trosclair and South Carolina transfer Jake McCoy. Two-way Mercer transfer Braydon Kersey, Air Force infielder Wyatt Hanoian and UC Irvine pitcher Ricky Ojeda are also committed.
