Second blue-chip wide receiver commits to UCLA

The UCLA Bruins have added more star power to their 2027 recruiting class, securing a commitment from four-star Matthew Gregory, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.
Gregory, who is from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, picked the Bruins over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, who were seen as the favorite ahead of his commitment. UCLA did not offer him a scholarship until May 9 and hosted him on an official visit on May 29. Nebraska extended him a scholarship in June of 2025 and was set to host him on an official visit next week, something that now looks unlikely to happen.
He is ranked as the No. 133 overall player and No. 22 wide receiver in the Rivlas industry ranking. He is also the No. 8 player from Pennsylvania. He is now UCLA’s highest-ranked offensive player and third-highest overall.
Gregory is UCLA’s 22nd commitment over and the fourth at wide receiver, joining four-star Kingston Celifie and three-star prospects Rob Larson and Michael Farinas. The group is ranked as the 15th-best recruiting class in the country and the 5th-best in the Big Ten by Rivals
While Bob Chesney has built an excellent initial recruiting class, they still need a quarterback. While it is important that they fill that hole, they have built up an excellent supporting cast that the coaching staff can use to try and help persuade their targets.
