Erie Otters claim Colin Kennedy with second overall pick in OHL draft

Colin Kennedy, whose family tree includes former Erie Otters coach Chris Hartsburg, officially joined that same franchise on June 12.
The Otters picked the forward with the second overall pick for the Ontario Hockey League’s priority selection draft.
Erie chose Kennedy during the first day of the two-day event at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, Ontario. The league returned to a live, in-person draft format for the first time since 2000.
Kennedy, who turned 16 on March 11, comes to the Otters after he appeared in 20 games for the 2025-26 Little Caesars U15 AAA team. The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, native recorded 24 goals and 12 assists for the Detroit franchise, plus another five goals and two assists during that season’s OHL Cup.
The Otters claimed Kennedy minutes after the Oshawa Generals drafted center Kane Cloutier with the No. 1 overall selection.
