Few players in the NFL can do what Kyle Hamilton does. At least that’s how Jesse Minter sees it. The Ravens coach has spent the offseason learning how best to utilize one of football’s most versatile defenders, and his admiration for Hamilton was impossible to miss during minicamp.
When asked about the All-Pro safety, Minter didn’t hesitate.
“Kyle [Hamilton] is incredible.”
He went even further moments later.
“He’s a one-of-one player in this league.”
What makes Hamilton special isn’t just his athletic ability.
“He’s extremely smart. He’s extremely cerebral. He wants to understand why we’re doing things.”
Minter believes Hamilton could excel virtually anywhere on the field.
“You could put him in one spot, and he could be the best in the league; put him in another spot, and he could be the best in the league.”
That’s a rare company. And it’s one reason the Ravens expect Hamilton to remain a centerpiece of the defense for years to come.
