Post 346 goes 1-1 Thursday in Crawfordsville

Wayne Newton Post 346 went 1-1 in an American Legion baseball tournament at Crawfordsville on Thursday.
In the first game of the day, Post 346 fell 8-2 to Lafayette Post 11. Post 11 tallied two runs in each of the first two innings to go up 4-0 before putting up four more in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-0. Post 346 responded with a run in each of the top halves of the sixth and seventh innings to make it 8-2.
Derrick Morrison pitched five innings allowing six hits and three runs while striking out one. Parker Higham went an inning on the mound and struck out two.
Parker Weir had two hits with Linden Jenkins recording a hit and the team’s only RBI, while Colten Moore had a triple a run scored. Dom Barnhart and Tyler Lawson each had a double.
In the second game of the day, Post 346 defeated Rantoul Post 387 1-0.
The lone run came in the bottom of the fifth with Lawson recording the RBI and Morrison scoring the run. It was a combined one-hit shutout for Post 346 as Jacob Norton went 3.2 innings allowing a hit while striking out four. Trey Eldridge went 3.1 innings on the mound and struck out six.
Post 346 was 24-3 heading into the second day of the Crawfordsville tournament Friday against Washington (Mo.).
