New England fell to Seattle in the championship game after an impressive run through the playoff bracket, but the Pats established themselves as a team on the rise in the AFC. Now, they want to prove that they are a perennial contender.
The Seahawks’ defense will test the Patriots’ offense, which now features A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. Can New England secure a victory in a hostile environment?

Halftime: Patriots 7, Seahawks 0
9:39 p.m. ET: Lock with an illegal forward pass with 17 seconds left in the half. It ended up being just an incomplete pass. The crowd is eerily quiet as the halftime began. New England gets the ball in the second half.
9:35 p.m. ET: With 50 seconds left in the half, Seattle got the ball. The Patriots used their first timeout of the game with 44 seconds left. They ddi it again with about 30 seconds left in the half. Darnold is OUT for the rest of the game with a hip injury.

9:30 p.m. ET: Maye continued to run down the field, doing it himself for the first down. Witherspoon tried to intercept the ball but he landed out of bounds. Stevenson caught the ball for a few yards. He did more damage catching the ball then when he ran it the next play.
9:24 p.m. ET: Hunter Henry with a run for a few yards following a pass by Maye. Brown with a gain of 15 for the first down. He’s looked sharp so far. Patriots run the clock down to the two-minute warning.
9:17 p.m. ET: There was a false start on the Seahawks. Just when they looked down and out on the play, Lock got a long throw in, and Smith-Njigba caught it. Just when it looked like they got the first down, there was another penalty on Seattle, negating all their efforts.
9:13 p.m. ET: Lock and the Seahawks tried to fight back. Price with a massive first down. Gabe Jacas with a massive sack on Lock.

9:07 p.m. ET: Rylie Mills stuffed the running game of New England. Now throwing the ball, Maye got the first down following a pass to DeMario Douglas. Brown with a first down as the Patriots managed to make it to the other side of the field. The Patriots were slowly moving towards the end zone. Brown tried getting a touchdown. There was pass interference on Josh Jobe.
9 p.m. ET: Gonzalez with an interception attempt to open the second quarter. After one play, it’s New England’s ball again.
End of the first quarter: Patriots 0, Seahawks 0
8:56 p.m. ET: Christian Gonzalez tried to halt Price’s momentum. At the end of the first, it’s a defensive battle.
8:51 p.m. ET: Second possession for the Patriots. Maye plowed forward for a first down. Brown got eight yards in his first catch with the Patriots. Stevenson ran the ball but failed to get the first down as Seattle got the stop.
8:45 p.m. ET: The Seahawks say Darnold is questionable to return due to a hip injury.

8:44 p.m. ET: Price and Smith-Njigba continued to lead the offense for Seattle. The Patriots’ Carlton Davis III appeared to have injured himself. Charles Woods is now in.
8:40 p.m. ET: In comes Drew Lock for Darnold. Darnold appears to have some form of lower body injury.

8:38 p.m. ET: Stevenson tried another run, but got a loss of three yards. Maye was chased by Devon Witherspoon to force 4th down. Seahawks ball.
8:36 p.m. ET: Something to monitor: Darnold went to the tent.
8:35 p.m. ET: New England has the ball inside their own 10. Rhamondre Stevenson with a run to start the offense for the Patriots. Drake Maye followed his lead, also running the ball to get the first down. The Patriots continued to run the ball. On 3rd & 5, Maye couldn’t get the first down. But there was a flag on Derick Hall for unnecessary roughness. First down!

8:18 p.m. ET: The NFL honored those who lost their lives on 9/11. Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready performed the National Anthem.
8:14 p.m. ET: The Lombardi Trophy is out on the field. Steve Raible, the voice of the Seahawks, along with Kam Chancellor, presented the team to the crowd. The championship banner is up!
