Official: Milan sign Diawara from Troyes, confirm squad number

Milan have confirmed the signing of Sankhoun Diawara from ESTAC Troyes. The French defender has signed a contract until June 2031.

The versatile defender has signed a contract until June 2031 and will wear the No. 13 shirt in 2026-27, Milan confirmed in a statement.

“AC Milan today announced the signing of Sankhoun Diawara from ESTAC Troyes. The French defender has signed a contract with the Club until 30 June 2031, with an option to extend,” the Rossoneri said.
“Born in Paris on 13 January 2006, Diawara developed through the youth academies of FC Solitaires Paris and CA Paris-Charenton before joining Troyes’ academy in 2020.
“Having completed his development with the French club, he made his first-team debut in November 2024 in the Coupe de France. The following season, he made 17 appearances across the league and domestic cup competitions, helping Troyes secure promotion to Ligue 1 and win the Ligue 2 title. His performances quickly established him as one of the most promising young defenders in French football.
“A left-footed centre-back, Diawara combines technical quality, physical strength and personality. These attributes make him a highly promising talent, already proven at professional level in France and ready to continue his development in the Rossoneri colours.
“Sankhoun Diawara will wear the number 13 shirt.

Who is Milan’s signing Diawara?
Diawara can play as a centre-back or left-back and is Milan’s third summer signing after Mario Gila and Gonçalo Ramos.
Italian sources, including Tuttosport, claim that Milan spent €3m to bring the promising defender to San Siro on a permanent deal, plus a sell-on clause for the French club.
Diawara was born in Paris on January 13, 2006. He progressed through the academies of FC Solitaires Paris and CA Paris-Charenton before joining Troyes’ youth sector in 2020.
He made his first-team debut with the French club in November 2024 in a French Cup match. During the 2025-26 campaign, he collected 17 appearances across all competitions, contributing to Troyes’ promotion from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1.
