FC Barcelona have secured the futures of several academy prospects in recent weeks and the Catalans have now announced another renewal with an eye on the future.

Indeed, Dani Avila, whose contract stood to expire this summer, has signed a new two-year contract with Barcelona, securing his future until 2028.

The club statement announcing his renewal read as follows:

“FC Barcelona has reached an agreement with player Dani Avila to renew his contract, which will link him to the Club for the next two seasons, until June 30, 2028, with the option to extend the agreement between both parties for one more year.”

Having completed his youth-team cycle, the 19-year-old will now move up to the reserve side.

From being on his way out to renewing

Avila joined Barcelona’s academy from Real Murcia ahead of the 2018-19 season, entering the club’s Under-12 side.

He quickly established himself as a technically gifted midfielder with considerable potential. However, a series of injuries over recent seasons significantly disrupted his development and prevented him from building consistent momentum.

After eight seasons marked by both promise and setbacks, his time at the club appeared to be drawing to a close.

Indeed, Barcelona presented Avila with a contract extension proposal several months ago, but the midfielder rejected the financial terms offered. Since then, there had been little movement in negotiations.

But, now, an agreement has been secured for the 19-year-old starlet to continue at the club.

Avila is regarded as one of the brightest prospects from Barcelona’s highly-rated 2007 generation, alongside players such as Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Marc Bernal.

During the 2025-26 campaign, injuries limited him to just ten appearances for the Juvenil A side under coach Pol Planas.

Now, set to move to Barça B, under Juliano Belletti, he will hope to make a major impact and put his injury woes behind him.
